I'm trying to configure freetds on a cpanel server, some documentation does exist but it's quite old now. Does anyone have a newer howto?

I have installed and configured freetds with the default settings but don't have /opt/freetds on my x64 system.

You should "merge" info from our UserGuide and your information for cpanel.

The latest version doesn't work, I couldn't get a connection so removed it and installed 0.64 and it works perfectly.

I almost have the service working. In the freetds log I noticed the connection was failing because freetds was trying to connect on port 4000, I have specified the server address and port 1433 in freetds.conf but it doesn't choose the correct port, but it does know the server IP address. In the conn.php for the website I have specified the connection as x.x.x.x:1433 this now connects on the correct port but there is something going wrong with the handshake, could the version of freetds be incompatible with SQL Server 2008? Thanks, where can I download 7? There's only 6.4 and then 8.x in the download site. Also I removed freetds by make uninstall but there was still a version on the server, I deleted the /usr/local/freetds dir tree then ./configure and make installed 8.4 but it doesn't recreate the installation directories. Do I need to do something else?

I'd highly suggest you start here:

http://www.freetds.org/userguide/

(Unfortunately, website seems to be down at the moment.)

Read it from start to finish. It will give you the context you need to
understand the advice given.

I know reading the docs can be hard when you have a task to accomplish,
but when I first started dealing with FreeTDS the userguide really
helped me, once I took the time to read it.

Thanks, where can I download 7? There's only 6.4 and then 8.x in the download site. Also I removed freetds by make uninstall but there was still a version on the server, I deleted the /usr/local/freetds dir tree then ./configure and make installed 8.4 but it doesn't recreate the installation directories. Do I need to do something else?
